Dr. Sudhi Gautam, Analyst-Advisor, Medical Devices at Vector Asset Management, is a uniquely qualified surgeon-turned-Biomedical Engineering Ph.D. with over 20 years of broad experience in medical devices, healthcare, and life sciences, and as a practicing surgeon. Dr. Gautam is a visionary and thought leader in medical device technologies, a keynote public speaker, and author credited with 20-plus publications.

Most recently Sudhi served as Vice President, Medical Devices at Mphasis Corporation, the head of the company’s medical devices and healthcare vertical, a CMM level 5, ISO 13485 certified Hewlett Packard billion-dollar plus public company with over 30,000 employees.

Dr. Gautam’s experience ranges from startups to co-owning P&L responsibility of ~$50M. In turnarounds, he has been instrumental in turning around a medical education company by doubling revenues in less than a year after serving as its Medical Director. Working for technology incubators such as Girvan Institute, Sudhi has been commended for providing leadership to early stage companies, instituting their vision, and developing technology and business plans.

He’s helped early-stage companies in artificial organs, drug delivery devices, needleless injections and medical imaging take off the ground by realigning target markets, reworking business plans, and reformulating clinical/regulatory strategies. Dr. Gautam has been instrumental in helping several such startups secure successful early seed funding. He also has experience with mergers and acquisitions in the cardiac monitors and electrosurgical device space.

As a clinician-surgeon and engineer, Sudhi serves in an enviable niche at the very core of the medical device and life sciences industries. Adept at conceptualizing cost-effective new medical and healthcare products, technologies and applications, he has helped execute successful commercialization plans while meeting challenging market timelines in the areas of cardiac monitoring, neuromodulation systems, telepathology/medicine and blood purification systems.

Dr. Sudhi Gautam trained as an Ear, Nose & Throat surgeon at Karnatak University, earned his Ph.D. in Biomedical Engineering at the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay and completed Post-doctoral research at the University of Michigan Medical School, Ann Arbor.

Dr. Gautam is globally networked across the United States, Europe, and Asia. He lives happily with his family in Mountain View, CA in the midst of the innovative entrepreneurial energy that is the Silicon Valley.
